Irony of life

The other day, as I strolled down the familiar lane where I reside, I encountered someone truly special – a humble woman with a heart of gold. In her late 60s, she embodies unwavering compassion, always extending kindness to those around her. Despite often being alone due to her husband’s prolonged absence at their native place, she perseveres with grace. Her journey is marked by a deep longing to experience motherhood, yet health complications led to two heartbreaking miscarriages. Adoption, a path she yearned to explore, remained closed off due to her husband’s and in-laws’ reservations. Nevertheless, she too finds solace and purpose in visiting children battling cancer, sharing her warmth and love in her unique way.

Her words resonate deeply: “I pray each day to let some of my healthy years of life be given to these children, may they be graced with more years of healthy life.” Her compassion knows no bounds. A devoted animal lover, she finds solace in caring for the numerous stray dogs in our area, each day ensuring they receive nourishment and care. Her actions are not only a tribute to her late beloved pet dog, whom she nurtured as if he were her child, which was a great emotional loss to her health and well-being.

She battles her loneliness and where I see her as an inspiration she feels I inspire her and she finds an emotional connection and solace each time we meet and share a warm hug.

The same evening after meeting her as I walked the lane ahead, I saw a man who was under the influence of alcohol badly abusing his little daughter in public (they live in slums) and cursing her and I felt the irony I just met someone who is longing for a child and here this man finds his child to a burden and a mode for him to feel powerful over a small creature.

This is the irony of life, therefore let us value what we are blessed with and at the same time value those who value the life of others.

Spread love, spread kindness in your way…..
